Come and help us celebrate the life and work of Grace Mitchell at the Eltham South Fine Art gallery 7 October.
The Exhibition will open at 2.00pm Sunday 7 October and run through to 18 November.
Grace’s extraordinary work spanned fine silk embroidery, fine crotchet, printmaking to sculpture constructed from ceramic and wood.
Grace had several creative careers throughout her 95 years. She was inspirational to and supportive of younger artists; never seeking personal limelight. Grace worked quietly
away at the most extraordinary works of art. Most of the work in this exhibition will be shown for the first time. During her career she had rejected the commercial aspects of artistic life and chose to produce her work for herself. She did not follow fashion and was entirely individual in her choice of material and subject.
At age 67 grace undertook an Arts Degree from RMIT (Phillip Institute).
For the first time some of her work will be available for sale.
